Medallion Financial Could Not Refinance $31.25 Million Before Maturity. That Is a Leadership Problem.

ZimCal’s March 6, 2026 release states that Medallion Financial’s recent debt maturity is evidence of significant issues at the Company. Medallion Financial Corp. failed to refinance $31.25 million of debt before it matured and was forced to deplete cash balances to repay it, an outcome ZimCal attributes to excessive holding company expenses and poor decisions by the CEO and the board. The release accompanies ZimCal’s presentation on the failed debt raise and argues that valuations could be much higher with better leadership and that the current path is unsustainable.
